Meet our Governors

Dr Jane Clements - MBE (Chair)

Dr Jane Clements MBE is a former teacher and has managed several national charities, focusing on inter faith and community cohesion. Dr Clements monitors Safeguarding matters as part of her governor role.

Mrs Charlotte Kingston - Foundation Governor

My name is Charlotte Kingston and I am a Foundation Governor for St Edburg’s School. My husband and I retired to Bicester just over two years ago from South London, where he was a Vicar. We have 4 grown up children, the youngest has high functioning autism, so I am very interested in Special Education provision. I have taught for 40 years in primary schools in South London, the last 14 years being a deputy head. My particular strengths are with the Foundation and KS1 children and I really enjoy reading, phonics and mathematics. I am really looking forward to supporting the school and hope to bring my teaching experience and skills to the governing body for the benefit of all the pupils. In my spare time I enjoy walking our dog, a wheaten Scottie, playing badminton and love cooking and baking. I am also a member of St Edburg’s Church choir and enjoy singing and I also belong to the Mothers’ Union

Rev Emmanuel Obeng - Foundation Governor

Reverend Obeng came to Bicester in 2007 with his wife and children where he served with the Royal Logistics Corps for 5 years at Ambrosden. Originally from Ghana, Rev Obeng has a degree in Social Science Education and has taught economics at a secondary school in Ghana prior to coming to Bicester. Whilst in Ghana Rev Obeng also served as the school chaplain, caring for over 600 children. After leaving the Army Rev Obeng worked as a postman developing a deeper understanding of British culture and society. He founded the Zion Way Ministries in 2012 and was ordained as a vicar in 2013 by the Apostolic Pastoral Congress. Rev Obeng has been married to Karen for 18 years , they have 4 children Emmanuella, Daniella, Zion and Paul who attend schools in Bicester including St Edburg’s.

Marina O'Callaghan - Foundation Governor

Marina is an Oxonian who has lived in Bicester for 36 years. She recently retired from a rewarding 15-year career as a teacher in the offender learning sector, where she taught English, Maths and Mentoring to male prisoners aged eighteen to post retirement age. Marina set up speaking clubs in Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, with an emphasis on speaking, listening and evaluation, and served as the area governor. With a keen interest in all things musical, Marina occasionally sings professionally and is a member of St Edburg’s Church choir. She is delighted to be a foundation governor at St Edburg’s CE Primary School and is committed to working hard to support the children, the teachers and support staff.

Judy Young - Foundation Governor

Mrs Young is a Science teacher at a secondary school in Oxford and a member of the St Edburg's Church.

Mick Thorne - Foundation Governor

Mick has St Edburg's School firmly in his ancestory having being a past pupil of the school himself, along with his father who also attended the school as a boy!  Mick works locally in logistics but his real passion is swimming, cycling and running and getting young people involved in these disciplines.  Mick is heavily involved with Bicester Tri.  Mick is really looking forward to his new role on the Governing body of St Edburg's - he is keen to do what he can to support our school as we continue to grow.
