St Edburg's is prepared for a situation whereby we need to close a class, year group or the whole school if there is a Covid-19 outbreak. It might also be necessary for us to close part of a class if only some children are required to self-isolate in the event of a positive case. In all situations the School will work with The National Institute for Health Protection and follow their advice with regards to any closures.
Our main method of communicating with the children and parents will be through Class Dojo. Parents are welcome to contact their child’s Class Teacher with academic or well-being concerns and should use Class Dojo in school hours to do so. Teachers will offer feedback on the work that children post on Class Dojo.
Further information can be found by reading:
Remote Learning Plan for children in years 1 – 6.
Every day Teachers will post a daily Maths and English lesson with a video explanation of each on Class Dojo. They will also post details of another task related to the class learning topic. During the week they will make contact with the children in groups at least once using Microsoft Teams. Each child has their own login and password for Office 365 and have practiced logging on at school.
Each child has been given a home learning book to use at home. Inside your child’s home learning book you will find a Remote Learning Agreement which is between parents, pupil and the school. It outlines some simple rules to help us all be safe when using online tools. Details of each child's Office 365 login and password are inside their home learning book
Remote Learning for children in Nursery
Each week teachers will post a home learning grid with a range of activities to cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum. There will also be stories read by Mrs Brennan available to watch and children will be encouraged to photograph their work and activities, and post them on Class Dojo. Teachers will respond to everything posted.
Your child has been supplied with a home learning book which can be used to record any activities that children do at home. In the home learning book, you will find a Remote Learning Agreement which is between parents, pupil and the school. It outlines some simple rules to help us all be safe when using online tools . At the moment we do not envisage that Nursery-aged children will access Microsoft Teams, but if this changes, then you will use the login information at the front of the home learning book.
Remote Learning for Children in Reception
Each week teachers will post a home learning grid with a range of activities covering all areas of the EYFS curriculum. Children are expected to complete the daily Maths and English activities, as well as the daily Phonics lesson. We also ask that photos of work completed at home are posted on Class Dojo for the Teacher to respond to.
Every day on ClassDojo we will post a short video of that day’s phonics sound for you to watch with your child at a convenient time. You will be notified on Class Dojo whether you should watch Mrs Sayer’s video, Mrs Key’s video or Mrs Blowes’ video. Children learn at a different pace and it is important that the children access the clip that is best suited to them.

Teachers will arrange a weekly catch-up on Microsoft Teams for all children in their class. Invitations will be sent to you in due course, but you will need to use the login details at the front of your child's home learning book.
We have produced a help sheet for parents to help you access and use Microsoft Teams. This has been posted on Class Dojo. If you have difficulty accessing the work set please contact your child's class Teacher.
Home Learning Devices
Whilst Class Dojo can be accessed from any mobile device with internet access, it is preferable that children have access to a device such as a tablet or laptop to complete some of the remote learning work.
If your child does not have access to a device such as a laptop or tablet to use for Remote Learning, and you are unable to acquire one, the school does have a few devices available for this purpose. You can apply to use one of these devices via the form here.
The Device Loan Agreement can be found here.
Pupil Engagement During Lockdowns
During any Lockdown situation, the school will continue to monitor pupil engagement and safety. If a pupil does not make contact with the school on any day then we will follow our procedures to ensure that pupil is safe. If your child is poorly and can’t check in during the day then you must let the Class Teacher know this via Class Dojo.
If your child is absent because they are self-isolating then their Class Teacher will be in contact to make arrangements for learning at home during that time.
